Gambling Services

My name is Angela Aurit and I am a certified gambling addictions counselor with Mid Columbia Center for Living. I am spreading the word about problem gambling in hopes that those who suffer from it will be properly identified and referred for FREE, confidential treatment that works.
The statistics regarding problem gambling give a picture of how pervasive this problem for people of all ages. In Oregon problem gambling prevalence estimates More than 74,000 Oregon adults (2.7 percent of adults) are believed to meet the criteria for being current problem or pathological gamblers (Moore, 2006). About 6,000 Oregonians over 62 years old (1.2 percent) are believed to meet the criteria for problem or pathological gambling (Moore, 2001). 1.3 percent of Oregon youth are problem gamblers; 4.6 percent are at-risk gamblers. That means there are between 1,100 and 6,300 adolescents with severe gambling-related difficulties (Volberg, 2007).
Of those who are referred for treatment, the statistics reveal the real problems this treatable disease manifests. The findings below are what individuals have reported while in treatment:
  • Average gambling debt: $22,000.
  • 30.6 percent had alcohol-related problems.
  • More than 36 percent of clients reported committing illegal acts to obtain gambling money.
  • More than 48 percent had suicidal thoughts and more than 7 percent had attempted suicide.
In order to spread the word about screening for problem gambling, I am providing a very quick and easy tool to use in your practice. It is called the Lie-Bet Tool. As gambling treatment providers our hope is that it is used to identify and refer clients out for problem gambling specific treatment.

We have 3 certified gambling addictions counselors out of Hood River and The Dalles offices. If we can be of any further assistance, please contact either, Delese Kendrick, Ruben Mosqueda, or myself at Mid Columbia Center for Living.

  1. For many new online poker players the dream is to deposit a small amount of money, usually around $50 and build it up playing poker and having fun. However, the reality for most is that they find poker to be more difficult than they realised and end up losing the money they deposit which is no fun at all. Poker is a game of skill but there is still a large element of luck. CASINO
