Paul Grim, LMHC Licensed Mental Health Counselor

107 W Jewett Ave.
White Salmon, Wa 98672

My name is Paul Grim and I am the counselor at White Salmon Counseling.

Counseling (also known as psychotherapy) is one of the most productive methods for achieving change and personal growth available to us. Counseling takes place in a strictly confidential setting where you are safe to disclose personal information without being judged.

Please browse around to find out more about my background and style. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call or e-mail.

Therapeutic philosophy

My approach is called “transpersonal psychology” which I implement using a mind/body approach in my counseling sessions.

Transpersonal psychology combines a variety of approaches in psychology, including behaviorism, cognitive psychology, neurology, and humanistic psychology, along with other disciplines, including Eastern and Western philosophy, and mindfulness.

Traditional psychology is interested in a continuum of human experience and behavior ranging from severe dysfunction, mental and emotional illness at one end, to what is generally considered “normal”, healthy behavior at the other end and various degrees of normal and maladjustment in between. Transpersonal Psychology is a full spectrum psychology that encompasses all of this and then goes beyond it by adding a serious scholarly interest in the immanent and transcendent dimensions of human experience.

Therapeutic techniques

I focus on the client’s entire lifestyle including physical activity, diet, sleep, work, purpose, meaning, and relationships. I’m a big fan of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.

Professional Background

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington State. License number LH60195290.
I graduated with a masters degree in counseling psychology from Southwestern College (CACREP equivalent) in 2005.

In addition to mainstream counseling and psychology, I have an extensive background in transpersonal psychology, eco-psychology, neurology, meditation, yoga, physical fitness, nutrition and wellness.

I have experience working in a clinical setting in community mental health as well as my own private practice since 2006. I have cared for people with a broad range of conditions including family problems, legal troubles, complex trauma disorders, attachment disorders, chronic pain, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, asperger syndrome, personality disorders, addiction (unwanted habits), narcissism, eating disorders, sexual dysfunction, pornography, relationship difficulty, bereavement, sports psychology, career counseling, life transitions, stress management, men’s issues, and spirituality.

I am a native of Washington State and have lived in Klickitat County since 1991 where I take full advantage of our incredible natural wonders to stay mentally and physically healthy!
